Industrial II by R D Burton

$700.00

Abandoned structures can be found beside many backroads of America. These mills,
factories, foundries, and plants are no longer running. Rust and silence are all they produce. Workers are now gone, along with a way of life.

My artist books portray the reality of change rather than a romanticized idea of the past, and display the economic, technological, and social changes that reshape urban and rural landscapes. The work records an environment in various states of abandonment and deterioration. Computer software is used to alter and manipulate my photographs, which are combined with various book structures to create a harmonious whole. The books are inkjet or laser printed, hand cut, and hand-assembled using many traditional and nontraditional bookmaking techniques.
